Palestinian State: We All Know That At This Time Israel Still Does Not Accept That Solution–Pope Leo

Pope Leo, concluding a three-day visit to Lebanon as part of a regional tour that began in Turkiye, has reiterated his support for a two-state solution as the only viable path to lasting peace between Israel and Palestine.

Speaking on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, the pontiff acknowledged the challenges in the ongoing conflict, noting that “we all know that at this time Israel still does not accept that solution, but we see it as the only solution.” He highlighted the continuing stalemate in negotiations and the need for dialogue to achieve justice for all parties.

The Pope emphasized the Vatican’s balanced stance, stressing its friendly relations with Israel while maintaining its role as a mediator. “We are also friends with Israel, and we are seeking to be a mediating voice between the two parties that might help them close in on a solution with justice for everyone,” he added.

During his visit, Pope Leo met with religious leaders, government officials, and local communities, addressing broader issues beyond the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including interfaith relations, social cohesion, and humanitarian concerns. His engagements aimed to promote understanding and peaceful coexistence among the diverse communities of the Middle East.
