People Who Should Be In Prison Are Now Ambassadors; They Were Absolute Failures As Governors’ –Keshi

former Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Ambassador Joe Keshi has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent ambassadorial appointments, saying some nominees deserve imprisonment rather than diplomatic posts. Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, Keshi argued that several political appointees have failed in previous government roles and would face prosecution if Nigeria’s legal system were applied fairly.

Keshi expressed concern that appointing politicians who mismanaged states and left successors struggling to repair damage rewards failure rather than excellence. He warned that such decisions send the wrong message about Nigeria’s standards for international representation.

“I’m comfortable with some names on the list, but the truth is, the bulk of the people on the non-career list is disturbing,” Keshi said. “If justice had prevailed and the rules were followed, some of these people should be cooling their heels in prison, not being sent out as ambassadors. They governed their states poorly, showed no leadership, and left successors to repair the damage they caused. These are the people being rewarded for political reasons.”
