Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed strong concerns over Nigeria’s worsening condition under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking in a recent interview on SYMFONI TV, Obi said the country’s challenges have intensified and now reflect broader difficulties across the African continent.
Obi noted that Nigeria is dealing with economic strain, persistent insecurity, rising inflation, and widespread unemployment — issues he believes require urgent, proactive leadership. He added that citizens are struggling with the ripple effects of recent government policies, including fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira, which have increased the cost of living nationwide.
The former presidential candidate emphasized that Nigeria’s problems are not isolated, stressing that Africa as a whole is experiencing a period of unprecedented instability. His remarks mirror the growing frustration among opposition figures and ordinary Nigerians who feel the current administration has not taken adequate steps to ease hardship.
According to Obi, “Today, not just Nigeria, but Africa — and Nigeria in particular — has faced all sorts of problems,” underscoring his call for better governance and long-term solutions.
