Reactions As Daniel Bwala Said We Don’t Pay Ransom, We Don’t Negotiate With Killers

Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has reiterated the administration’s position on terrorism and security negotiations, stating that the government will not yield to pressure from within or outside the country.

Posting on X on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Bwala wrote that he had “said it clearly on Channels TV this morning,” insisting that under President Tinubu, “Nigeria will not bow to terrorists, foreign pressure, or any orchestrated narrative.”

He emphasized the administration’s stance against paying ransom or engaging with criminal groups, declaring: “We don’t pay ransom. We don’t negotiate with killers. We are taking this fight to the roots with intelligence, precision, and an unshakable resolve to protect our people.”

He added that “Nigeria is not a playground for chaos,” expressing confidence that “we will win decisively.”

Bwala’s remarks triggered a wave of reactions online, with some users openly disputing the government’s position. Responding to his post, one commenter wrote that “the world is not stupid,” arguing that only government officials “believe your narrative.”

The user referenced recent statements by the United States, adding that “on the same day you claimed to have successfully debunked Christian genocide, the government of the USA said they are placing a visa ban on the enablers of this terror.”

In another response, a user questioned the consistency of the government’s no-negotiation stance, pointing to the recent release of abducted schoolgirls.

The user wrote: “Oga, the defence minister is being praised for negotiating the release of the Maga girls. It means some people are in touch with the terrorists, negotiations were reached and the girls were released not under superior power of the military but ‘negotiations.’”

The user further queried what happened to the abductors after the girls’ release, asking: “Does that mean we have a government that knows the terrorists, can reach the terrorists, and still allow terrorists to keep abducting citizens, worse of it, little children?”
