Liverpool manager Arne Slot has addressed Mohamed Salah’s visible frustration after being left out of the squad during the club’s 2–0 win over West Ham on Sunday, according to Vanguard.
The 33-year-old Egyptian forward, who watched the match from the bench, expressed his unhappiness at the decision. Slot confirmed Salah’s reaction but described it as entirely normal for a player of his calibre.
Salah has struggled to hit his usual scoring form this season, netting only four Premier League goals, a significant drop from the 29 goals that earned him the Golden Boot last season. Slot acknowledged this slump but praised Salah’s character, calling him a “superhuman being” who has consistently carried the team.
“Every player has moments when things don’t go perfectly,” Slot said. “Mo has done so much for this club, and we know he will rise again. His quality is never in doubt.” He also noted that Salah’s disappointment at being benched was expected but handled professionally, with the forward supporting his teammates throughout the match.
Slot highlighted Salah’s consistency, fitness, and commitment, saying, “You cannot play every three days at his level if you act only on emotions. Mo always prepares himself like a true professional.” The manager confirmed that Salah is expected to join the Egyptian national team for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15, with discussions ongoing regarding his schedule.
As Liverpool prepare to face Sunderland, fans will be watching to see whether Salah returns to the starting lineup and how he responds on the pitch.
