Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has responded to Nigerian broadcaster Rufai Oseni’s remarks about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the rescue of former President Goodluck Jonathan from Guinea-Bissau. The reaction came via Akosile’s official X account on November 28, 2025.
Rufai Oseni had criticized Tinubu, suggesting that despite Nigeria acquiring a N150 billion presidential jet, the former president was not rescued by the government during the military coup in Guinea-Bissau. He wrote, “The President of Nigeria recently bought N150 billion presidential plane that the National Assembly was ignored for this purchase. At least the President could have deployed one of the planes to help the former President.”
Akosile countered the claims, describing them as misinformed and misleading. He shared a video showing former President Jonathan expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for sending an aircraft for his safe return, highlighting that the narrative shared by Oseni did not reflect the facts.
“The heart and soul of journalism is deeply rooted in investigation, balanced reporting, and not misinformation or distorted reporting. This is bad. Learn to calm down,” Akosile wrote on his X account.
