Sheikh Gumi Reacts To Report Saying Turkey Is Setting Up Military Training Camp In Nigeria

Prominent Nigerian Islamic cleric, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, has commended Turkey for its humanitarian assistance to various institutions in Nigeria.

In a post on his official Facebook page on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Sheikh Gumi highlighted the support Turkey provided to Gina Jamiah (Nile University), Nizamiya hospital, and many secondary schools, as well as the slaughtering of cattle for the poor.

He wrote: “Marhabah and Turkey because their hands don’t have the blood of the servants of Allah. Here is the help they gave to Gina Jamiah (Nile University), hospital (Nizamiya) and many secondary schools, and slaughter cattle for the poor. Wow, all praise be to God.”

Sheikh Gumi further noted that Boko Haram now has no justification to claim they are fighting non-Muslims. He expressed hope that bandits would, by the grace of God, be persuaded to drop their weapons.

“Again, now boko haram don’t have a clue to say they are fighting non muslims. And bandits, by the grace of God, they will be able to take care of them to drop their weapons. Hope this brings an end to this tragedy,” he stated.

The cleric also urged Nigerians to stop immorality, warning that even God can punish the people for such acts. He concluded with a prayer for peace. “And people, please stop immorality, even for God’s sake can punish the people. May Allah grant us peace. Amen to this. Amen,” he added.

The post was made in reaction to a BBC Hausa report that Turkey will set up a military training camp in Nigeria. The report was accompanied by a photograph showing a Turkish military helicopter and soldiers in a training or operational setting. Read_More…
