Sowore Reacts To Report That Some Aggrieved Youths Burned Down The Home Of Nafiu Bala

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned reports alleging that aggrieved youths set ablaze the residence of a factional leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala.

The incident, which was reported by Punch Newspapers, is said to have occurred in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling that affirmed the leadership of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola within the party.

Reacting via his X handle, Sowore described the alleged act as unacceptable and called for immediate action by security agencies.

“If it is true that some ‘aggrieved youths’ burned down the home of ADC factional leader Nafiu Bala, it must be condemned in the strongest terms. There should be zero tolerance for political violence in any form,” he said.

He urged law enforcement authorities to act swiftly to investigate the incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

“I urge Nigerian security agencies to act swiftly, investigate thoroughly, and bring those responsible to justice without delay. Acts like this only deepen instability and erode democratic values,” Sowore added.

The activist also warned against political intolerance, stressing that no group should be shielded from accountability regardless of affiliation.

“No political group is above accountability. If members or supporters of any party, especially the ADC, engage in violence, they are no different from those they often criticise in the APC. There must be no room for political intolerance in our body politic,” he stated.

The reported attack has sparked concern among observers, coming at a time of heightened political tension following the leadership dispute within the ADC.

While authorities have yet to officially confirm details of the incident, analysts say the development underscores the need for restraint among political actors and their supporters as Nigeria’s political landscape continues to evolve.
