Segun Showunmi, a chieftain of The Alternative Movement, has praised the Igbo community for their warm reception and strong support during a recent event in Ogun State. In a post shared on his verified X page, Showunmi stated that the Igbos he knows are united, peaceful, and represent the alternative. He suggested that they might be different from how others perceive them in other parts of Nigeria. Impressed by the turnout, he commented that Peter Obi should come and learn how to unite people from him, subtly positioning himself as a model of inclusive leadership.
The Alternative Movement, which stands in opposition to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), appears to be gaining momentum, especially in the South-West. Showunmi described the Igbos’ involvement as a sign that a greater Nigeria is on the horizon. His remarks emphasize the movement’s vision for national unity and active political participation across ethnic lines, with the Igbo community playing a pivotal role in shaping that future.
According to him, “Ndigbo Kwenu! The Igbos I know might be different from the ones you know. Hear me on my own, Ndigbos. The Alternative: a united, peaceful, greater Nigeria is on the horizon. The Alternative. Peter Obi, come and learn how to unite a country. Receive sense.”
