These Govs Believe If Anyone Contests Under PDP, LP, Their Opponents Will Just Be Partying -Goje

Senator Danjuma Goje, former Governor of Gombe State, has commented on recent defections from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP), including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing them as strategic decisions rather than acts of betrayal.

In an interview shared by VOICE OF THE PEOPLE TV, Senator Goje explained that internal disputes within both PDP and LP have left these parties legally exposed. According to him, candidates who contest under these platforms risk having their positions challenged in court, as internal party instability makes it easier for opponents to nullify election results. Senator Goje noted that politicians such as Governor Adeleke are responding to political realities, where remaining in a troubled party could threaten their tenure. He clarified that these moves are about safeguarding their positions rather than abandoning party principles.

He stated, “Anybody seeing these governors jumping ship from PDP or LP, it’s just obeying survival instinct that if anybody contest under those two platforms, his opponent will just go and be partying because the lawyers will not sweat to remove the rug off that person’s feet and give it to his opponent.”
