Tinubu Asks Senate To Confirm Joseph Tegbe As Minister Of Power

President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the appointment of Joseph Tegbe as a minister.

The request was contained in a letter presented during Tuesday’s plenary session by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In the letter, the president said the nomination was made in line with the relevant provisions of the Constitution and urged lawmakers to consider it without delay.

In compliance with the provisions of section 147 subsection 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1991 as amended, I am pleased to forward for confirmation by the Senate the nomination of Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter reads.

While I hope this request will receive the expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, Distinguished Senate President, Distinguished Senators, the assurances of my highest regards.”

Akpabio responded by assuring that the Senate would act on the request promptly, directing that it be handled immediately by the committee of the whole.

This correspondence is referred to the committee of the whole for immediate action,” he said.

Joseph Tegbe’s nomination comes shortly after Adebayo Adelabu resigned from his position to focus on his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
