Primate Elijah Ayodele has urged the Nigerian government to end negotiations with terrorist groups, warning that continued dialogue may worsen the country’s security situation and draw international scrutiny.
In a recent Facebook broadcast, Ayodele criticized what he described as a policy of appeasement, stressing that violent extremists respond primarily to decisive action. He encouraged authorities to adopt a firmer approach and prioritize military and strategic measures over prolonged discussions.
The cleric emphasized that caution or delay could further threaten communities already affected by attacks. He called on security agencies to take full control of the situation and act boldly against armed groups responsible for terror nationwide.
Ayodele also suggested that global powers, particularly the United States, are closely monitoring Nigeria’s handling of the security crisis. He cautioned that foreign nations may view indecision as a vulnerability, potentially leading to diplomatic or political pressure.
