TV personality Nick Cannon has admitted to applying a double standard when it comes to dating rules for his teenage twins, saying he is more relaxed with his son than his daughter.
Speaking on “The TMZ Podcast,” Cannon said he is comfortable allowing his 15-year-old son Moroccan to go on dates, but has not given the same freedom to his twin sister Monroe, a position he openly acknowledged.
He said, “It’s absolutely a double standard,” explaining that his concerns are rooted in safety. Cannon noted that he worries more about potential risks for his daughter, particularly the possibility of someone harming her, and how he might react in such a situation.
By contrast, he expressed fewer concerns about his son, even joking that Moroccan, whose mother is Mariah Carey, would have no issue covering dating expenses.
Despite his stance, Cannon indicated he is open to revisiting the rules for Monroe in the future, particularly if she can clearly communicate her plans and intentions. He added that, like many parents, his approach is ultimately guided by a desire for openness, honesty, and ensuring his children’s safety as they grow older.
