We Were Happy When Gen Musa Said “Anywhere You See Bandits Kill Them,”Suddenly He Was Removed -Aliyu

Security and intelligence analyst Dr. Sani Aliyu has said many professionals in the security sector were initially concerned when President Bola Tinubu removed General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff.

Speaking in an interview with Trust TV, Aliyu explained that shortly before his removal, General Musa had issued a firm directive that bandits, terrorists, and kidnappers should be eliminated wherever they are found. According to him, this order raised hope among security experts who believed it signaled a renewed determination to tackle violent crime.

Aliyu noted that Musa’s sudden removal raised questions about the government’s commitment to fighting terrorism. However, he said the development later became clearer when it emerged that the President intended to appoint Musa as Minister of Defence—a position that would give him broader authority to execute security reforms.

In his words, “We that are in the industry began to feel excited that for once the general had spoken as the Chief of Defence Staff, saying, ‘This is serious business. Anywhere you see anybody relating to kidnapping, terror, bandits, or whatever, kill them.’ And suddenly he was removed.”
