In a recent video report by Church Gist, Pastor Paul Enenche explained that the church initiated a robust welfare program in response to the severe economic strain affecting many worshippers. The initiative aimed to provide direct relief to congregants unable to afford basic necessities such as food and transportation.
The program, which ran every Sunday for a full year, involved distributing raw food items and other essential goods to members of the church community. “This is what we did when the economic situation became unbearable for many worshippers,” Pastor Enenche said, highlighting the church’s commitment to practical support during difficult times.
However, the cleric noted that the church has since decided to scale back the weekly outreach. He explained that the adjustment was necessary after observing that some beneficiaries were not adhering to certain program guidelines.
Pastor Enenche acknowledged the challenges faced by large institutions in maintaining consistent aid while managing operational protocols. He added, “When we realized that the economic situation of the nation had become so intense that people were struggling to afford food or even transportation, we began a raw welfare program in the church every Sunday. We did this for a year and then decided to relax it a little because the people who were coming for it were not following certain instructions.”
