Former PDP chieftain, Chief Olisa Metuh, has shed light on his decision to decline President Bola Tinubu’s invitation to join the ruling APC shortly after leaving politics in 2022.
In an interview reported by Daily Trust on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Metuh explained that the call came at a time when he had formally stepped back from political engagement and was focused on a period of reflection. “When I left politics in 2022, he called me to come into his party. And I refused,” Metuh said, emphasizing that his decision was deliberate.
Metuh revealed that after APC’s victory in the national elections, he personally met with President Tinubu, who reiterated his desire for Metuh to formally join the party. Despite the renewed invitation, Metuh initially declined again, citing his earlier decision to pause political activities. He noted that the repeated outreach highlighted the administration’s recognition of his experience and potential contribution to national governance.
He further explained that his eventual decision to return to politics and join the APC followed careful contemplation, aligning with his commitment to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s development and democratic processes.
