Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, has called on the Nigerian government to provide clear answers regarding the circumstances surrounding the recent release of several kidnap victims. Speaking in a message reported by Channels TV on Sunday, November 30, 2025, he warned that the lack of transparency raises deeper concerns about national security management.
Pastor Bakare acknowledged the relief felt by families of the rescued victims—including the Kebbi schoolgirls, Kwara church worshippers, and the schoolchildren who escaped the Papiri abduction in Niger State. However, he noted that the manner of their release raises troubling questions that cannot be ignored. According to him, “the secrecy-shielded circumstances of their release leave more questions than answers.”
He questioned why troops allegedly withdrew from the affected Kebbi school shortly before the attack, asking: “Who ordered the withdrawal of the military about 45 minutes before the attack?” He further demanded clarity on the nature of negotiations with the bandits, including any concessions or agreements that may have been made to secure the victims’ freedom.
Pastor Bakare argued that the repeated attacks across different states are signs of a deeper governance failure. He stressed that Nigeria now requires urgent, fundamental interventions to strengthen its security architecture and rebuild public trust in government institutions.
According to him, the worsening insecurity “underscores the need for interventions that address the very essence of our nationhood and the quality of governance.”
