In a recent Facebook video, renowned prophet Primate Elijah Ayodele raised questions about former U.S. President Donald Trump’s reported interest in assisting Nigeria in combating terrorism. He argued that the United States, like Nigeria, faces its own security challenges and suggested that foreign intervention may not be the solution.
Ayodele noted, “America too, they are not escape of bandits. There’s bandit in America. Yes,” emphasizing that insecurity is a global issue. He clarified the distinction between local banditry and terrorism, stating that bandits are responsible for attacks on soldiers and police, highlighting the complexity of the country’s security landscape.
The cleric questioned the motives behind Trump’s interest in Nigeria, asking, “So when there is bandit in the US, why is it that Trump is now coming to Nigeria saying ‘want to fight Nigeria terrorists’?” He urged Nigerians and their leaders to focus on local solutions rather than relying on external support.
Ayodele even offered his own assistance, stating boldly, “They should come and employ me and I will help them as their spokesperson now.” He stressed that the Nigerian government must take decisive action against insecurity instead of seeking international validation.
