Dr. Paul Enenche, Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, has warned Nigerians about the spiritual impact of careless speech, emphasizing that words carry the power to shape destinies, attract divine favor, or empower negative forces.
During a recent sermon, Enenche highlighted the biblical foundation for responsible speech, noting that words do more than communicate—they influence outcomes. “Words can be snares. Words can be traps. Many have trapped their lives and trapped their destinies by the kind of statements they made,” he said. Citing Proverbs 18:21, he explained that every spoken word carries either life or destruction: “The Bible said, ‘Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.’ You are either speaking death or you are speaking life.” He also referenced Numbers 14:28 to show how God responds to human declarations: “‘As you have spoken in my ears,’ say unto them, ‘As truly as I live, saith the Lord, as you have spoken in my ears, so will I do unto you.’”
Enenche cautioned that negative, fearful, or careless words can empower harmful spiritual forces. “Please be careful of speaking words that empower devils, that empower demons,” he said, adding that positive declarations align with God’s promises, while negative statements strengthen darkness.
Referencing Psalm 103:20, he noted, “Do you know what the Bible said in Psalm 103:20? He said, ‘The angels excel in strength at the sound of His voice.’” He explained that angels respond to God’s word and act swiftly when people speak in alignment with divine truth.
The pastor urged Nigerians to speak intentionally, inviting divine protection, favor, and intervention rather than vulnerability to spiritual attacks. He concluded, “Your words are seeds. Speak life so that you can harvest life,” reminding the public that disciplined speech is a safeguard for both spiritual and personal wellbeing.
