Yorubas Did Not Bring You to Power; Christian North Voted for Obi, Not You;Now You’re Pivoting—Yusuf

Political analyst Usman Yusuf has criticized what he described as regional bias in political appointments and voter support, highlighting growing discontent with the current administration’s governance approach. His remarks were made in a video shared on Symfoni.

Yusuf pointed out that the current administration has disproportionately favored one region in its appointments while simultaneously failing to win key urban centers.

He further noted that much of the president’s electoral backing came from the core northern regions, particularly Muslim-majority areas, while Christian-majority northern voters largely supported the opposition candidate.

“Seventy percent of your appointments are Yoruba-centric. You did not win Lagos; Yorubas did not bring you to power. You lost Lagos. Sixty-three percent of your votes are from the north, from the core north (Muslim north). Christian Northerners did not vote for you; they voted for Peter Obi. Now, you’re pivoting,” he said, emphasizing a disconnect between perceived political support and actual voting patterns.
