Nigerian music promoter Ijoba Danku has alleged that he was violently attacked in Lagos, claiming the incident was directly linked to his open support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Danku, a known figure within Nigeria’s street-hop music scene, said the incident occurred on Friday in the Illeshu area, close to the popular New Afrika Shrine. According to him, the attack was not random but a deliberate act carried out because of his political alignment.
Speaking from a hospital bed in a video that has since circulated widely on social media, the promoter described the incident as a targeted assault rather than a robbery or street altercation.
“I was attacked yesterday on the streets of Illeshu by some boys just because I am supporting APC, Asiwaju 2027,” he said.
“They wounded me and damaged my car.”
In the footage, Danku appeared visibly injured, reinforcing his claims that the attack was severe. While he did not provide extensive details about the number of attackers or the exact sequence of events, he maintained that the motive was clearly political.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with many expressing concern over rising tensions linked to political affiliations, especially as conversations around the 2027 elections begin to gain momentum.
