Photo have emerged of a married man who lost his life after being shot by police in an incident witnessed by his wife.
The tragic event has left a family in Namanjalala, Trans Nzoia County, in deep grief following the death of their relative on April 20, 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Musa Namakholo.
Reports indicate that police officers were conducting an operation in the area when they went to his home late at night.
According to his widow, Jackline Namalwa, the officers demanded that the door be opened.
Her husband declined, stating that it was too late and requested that the officers produce a valid search warrant before gaining entry.
She explained that the officers refused to present any documentation and instead threatened to force their way inside.
Moments later, they broke the door and began shooting, fatally injuring her husband at the scene as she watched helplessly.
Authorities have alleged that Namakholo was involved in the sale of illicit alcohol, a claim that has not been independently verified.
The incident has also revived painful memories for the family, as it is reported that the deceased had previously lost a son under similar circumstances involving police about six years ago.
Speaking on the matter, area police commander Ricko Ngare confirmed that the Independent Policing Oversight Authority has launched investigations into the shooting.
He urged anyone with relevant information to assist investigators in establishing the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Ngare also appealed to residents to remain calm and allow due process to take its course as inquiries continue.
