“He Has Killed My Only Daughter” – Father’s Emotional Plea After Tragic Death of 20-Year-Old Student

Nyeri – A tragic loss has left a family and community in shock after 20-year-old Sheila Chebet, a first-year student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Karatina, Nyeri County. Her boyfriend, Vincent Bet, a fourth-year student at Karatina University, is alleged to have been involved in her death.

CCTV footage from a nearby shop shows Vincent leading Sheila down a different road moments before her body was discovered. Sheila’s devastated father, Johnstone Korir, broke down in tears as he spoke about the heartbreak of losing his daughter. “She was a bright girl. I had hopes; I knew she would become someone great in our family. But this is such bad luck. I will just tell her siblings to stay calm so we can give her a proper send-off,” he said.

Family, friends, and schoolmates gathered at Karatina Police Station, mourning the untimely death of a young woman described as kind and polite. Her friend Isaack Odhiambo revealed that he had tried calling Sheila at around 8 pm, but she did not respond despite multiple attempts.

CCTV footage also captured Sheila and Vincent in the company of another couple earlier in the evening. Later, Vincent claimed to his friend Edwin Kamau that they had been attacked, leaving Sheila behind, but did not provide clear details about the incident. Her lifeless body was eventually discovered in a bush the following morning.

The heartbreaking incident has sparked outrage and deep sorrow in Nyeri County, with the community demanding swift investigation and justice for the young student whose promising life was abruptly cut short.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Sheila’s death as police urge anyone with information to come forward.
