Nollywood actress Blessing Onwukwe has revealed that she earned more than N1 million for her role in the hit movie Monica 2, following the film’s impressive success.
The actress, widely recognised for portraying the controversial “Mama Monica” character in the trending Nollywood production, made the revelation during an interview on Yanga FM while reflecting on the movie’s popularity and audience reception.
According to Onwukwe, the financial reward she received was directly connected to the overwhelming success of the project after its release.
“Monica passed one million. It passed the one-million mark for Monica II. I don’t want to call any other amount, but it’s more than one million,” she said during the interview.
The actress also shared details about the effort she put into preparing for the emotionally intense role, explaining that she had to deeply study and develop the character before filming began.
She noted that creating a believable personality for “Mama Monica” required building a detailed emotional and personal background for the role.
“I started thinking about how I was going to bring the character to life. I had to create a background story for her,” she explained.
Monica 2, which features Uche Montana in a leading role, has become one of the most talked-about Nollywood productions of 2026. Since its release, the movie has generated massive attention online, recording millions of views on YouTube and sparking widespread discussions across social media platforms.
