In a recent interview shared by Arise News, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, dismissed claims surrounding a reported surge in membership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
Reacting to reports that over 10 million Nigerians registered with the party within 48 hours, Bwala questioned the authenticity of the figures and described the claim as misleading. According to him, “There is no software that could have registered 10 million people within 48 hours. They are lying.”
He argued that such statistics are often exaggerated to create a perception of widespread support and political momentum. Bwala maintained that, given current technological and administrative limitations, processing such a massive number of registrations within a short timeframe is unrealistic.
The presidential aide further noted that misinformation and inflated figures are becoming more common as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections. He warned that such narratives could misinform the public and undermine trust in the political process.
Bwala urged Nigerians to rely on verified data and remain cautious of unsubstantiated claims, stressing the importance of transparency and credibility in democratic engagement.
