Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bimpe Akintunde has confirmed that her marriage to Ganiyu has ended, opening up about the emotional journey behind the separation.
The actress shared the revelation in an emotional post on Instagram on Friday, where she reflected on heartbreak, healing, motherhood, and personal transformation.
According to Akintunde, making the situation public was not an easy decision, but she felt it was important to speak honestly after previously sharing moments of happiness from the relationship online.
“This isn’t something I imagined sharing publicly, but life humbles, teaches, and reshapes us in unexpected ways,” she wrote.
She explained that after spending time reflecting, praying, and having sincere conversations with herself and her family, she decided it was time to acknowledge her new reality publicly.
“After deep reflection, prayers, and honest conversations with myself and my family, I’ve chosen to speak my truth because I once shared my happiness, and I owe it to myself to share my reality too,” she added.
The actress disclosed that the marriage ended before the birth of her second child from her first marriage, noting that the experience brought emotional pain and major life lessons.
According to her, the relationship lasted less than three years before things took an unexpected turn.
“Before the arrival of my second child from my first marriage, which lasted less than three years, life took a different turn. It wasn’t easy — it came with lessons, tears, strength, and growth,” she stated.
Despite the difficult experience, Akintunde said she remained deeply rooted in her faith and focused on finding peace for herself and her children.
She explained that choosing healing over bitterness has helped her navigate the painful chapter of her life.
“But through it all, I held on to my faith in God, the Author of my journey, and I’ve embraced my path with grace, choosing peace, healing, and purpose for myself and my children,” she wrote.
The actress also expressed gratitude for the strength she has gained through the experience, describing herself as a woman who has been rebuilt rather than destroyed by life’s challenges.
“Today, I stand not broken, but rebuilt. Not defeated, but refined — a stronger woman, a loving mother, and a soul still full of hope,” she added.
Akintunde concluded the post with a short but direct message confirming her current relationship status.
“Behind every smile is a story. Today, I choose to hint mine: I AM SINGLE.”
