Does His Dressing Affect Millions Of Out-Of-School Children? — Paul Slams Attacks on Obi’s Dressing

For a long time, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has faced mounting criticism over his leadership approach, with detractors now targeting his attire and intellect.

In a staunch defense, Moses Paul, a close associate of Obi, has hit back at the detractors in a post on his official X page, urging a focus on substantive issues rather than personal attacks.

Paul painted a picture of Obi’s dedication, recalling, “Whenever you sit with Mr. Peter Obi to talk about leadership, you quickly discover where his heart lies. For him, the life of a leader, the personal life, the journey into office, and the character he brings along is far more fundamental than the office itself.”

He quoted Obi as saying, “Leadership is first about who you are. Your life must be worthy of emulation because the younger generation is watching.”

Paul highlighted Obi’s unblemished record, noting the absence of scandals or misconduct despite intense scrutiny.

“That’s why those who seek to discredit him have always faced a peculiar challenge: there’s nothing scandalous to find,” he wrote.

He cited Obi’s transparent academic journey, spanning over ten prestigious institutions worldwide, and his tenure as governor, where he left no salary or pension arrears, avoided loans, and left billions in the state treasury while leading Anambra to top the Millennium Development Goals.

Addressing the shift to personal critiques, Paul recalled a trip to Indonesia where Obi returned with minimal clothing, favoring simple shirts sewn in Awka and Aba.

“Even before his time as Governor, Mr. Obi has always favored plain shirts and trousers.

Nowadays, you often see him in black,” Paul noted, adding that Obi’s response to his curiosity was, “I wear whatever suits me.”

Dismissing the focus on Obi’s wardrobe, Paul challenged, “Does his dressing affect the millions of out-of-school children he’s working to bring back into classrooms? Does it diminish his efforts to support healthcare all over the country, reduce poverty, and address the worsening insecurity, banditry, and senseless killings across Nigeria?”

He urged critics to prioritize Obi’s vision, competence, and integrity, traits he said Obi has consistently demonstrated.

Paul concluded by honoring Obi’s compassion, writing, “Mr. Obi is always concerned about the downtrodden and the ordinary Nigerian struggling to survive in a system designed to suppress them. Happy Fathers’ Day to all REAL fathers out there, especially to @PeterObi, a caring and compassionate father!!!”

The defense comes as Obi continues his advocacy for education, healthcare, and security, undeterred by the ongoing personal attacks.
