Popular content creator, Alvin of Lagos, has decried the escalating menace of local thugs, commonly known as ‘area boys’, who are exploiting residents in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
In a recent video circulating on social media, Alvin revealed that he was forced to pay ₦100,000 to local touts before being allowed to move his belongings into a new apartment within an estate in Ajah.
The content creator expressed shock at the audacity of the touts, stating that the extortion did not stop at his initial move-in. According to his account, these individuals demand cash payments for moving in items as minor as kitchen utensils.
Alvin described a hostile atmosphere where residents are subjected to constant surveillance and extortion, noting that the estate management seems overwhelmed and unable to curb the incessant harassment by the hoodlums.
This incident highlights the growing audacity of street miscreants in Lagos.
