My Husband Slept With Me Two Days After I Gave Birth, When I Complained, He Said That’s Why He Married Me

Aisha Abdullahi from Ilorin has shared her heartbreaking experience of how her husband slept with her just two days after she gave birth. When she tried to complain, he casually told her that was the main reason he married her in the first place.

According to Aisha, she grew up in Okelele area of Ilorin before moving to Lagos to work as a house help. It was in Lagos she met her husband at a mosque program, and they became close friends. Eventually, their Alfa prayed for them, and she moved into his family house in Ilorin after their Nikkah.

Aisha said she thought being married into a religious family — especially as her husband was the son of a well-respected Alfa — would mean a peaceful home. But she was wrong.

Once she got pregnant, her mother-in-law started treating her badly. Every morning by 5 am, the woman would wake her up, shouting that she should sweep the compound, fetch water, and cook, even with her heavy pregnancy.

Two days after she gave birth at a local maternity center in Taiwo area, she returned home. That same night, her husband forced himself on her. Even though she begged him, crying that her body was still in pain, he didn’t care — he slept with her regardless.

The next morning, when she tried to talk to him about how hurt and weak she felt, he just laughed and said, “Is that not why I married you?”

Heartbroken, Aisha went to confide in her mother-in-law, hoping the older woman would intervene. To her shock, the woman looked her in the eye and asked, “Or do you want me to be the one sleeping with him instead?”

That was the moment Aisha knew she was truly on her own.

The final straw came when her baby was just two months old. Her husband and his mother beat her up so badly one night that she ended up in the hospital at UITH. That was when she swore never to step foot in that house again.

Aisha is now back in Ilorin, trying to rebuild her life with her baby — determined never to let any man or in-law treat her that way again.
