A large-scale security operation in Kogi and Kwara states led to the rescue of 309 abducted victims and the arrest of 129 suspects linked to terrorism and kidnapping. Nigeria Police Force spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the raids targeted bandit camps along the Kogi-Kwara axis.
Hundeyin revealed that 55 armed bandits who refused to surrender were neutralized during fierce gun battles, stressing these were combat encounters, not unlawful killings. The rescued hostages—men, women, and children—were safely extracted and given immediate aid.
He emphasized the coordinated effort between police and security agencies aims to restore public confidence and prevent further attacks. Investigations are ongoing, with suspects set for prosecution.
The police assured that operations will continue relentlessly to dismantle criminal networks terrorizing the region.
