Nigerian singer Oyinlomo Diamond has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of her life, marking ten years since she walked away from a violent relationship and began rebuilding her life on her own terms. The singer used the moment to speak publicly about her past, her healing process, and the lessons she has carried forward.

She spoke strongly about her belief that violence has no place in any romantic relationship. In her words, “Nobody should raise hands on each other in a relationship or marriage. You don’t raise your hands on someone you love.” The statement reflects her firm stance on respect and safety within relationships.

Describing her exit from the relationship in 2016, she explained that the decision was not rushed. She took time to plan her departure carefully, especially because she wanted to ensure her children were safe and could leave with her. She also pointed out that financial independence played a major role in her ability to walk away under better conditions.

She said, “I took my time to leave in 2016 because I wanted to leave with my kids. I will not advise any woman that is not financially stable to leave with their kids at once. It was easy for me because I was the breadwinner in the relationship.”

Now a decade later, she describes her present life as one filled with growth and personal achievement. Looking back, she expressed satisfaction with how far she has come since those difficult years. She stated, “I am proud of myself today because I am 20 times better than I was 10 years ago.”

Motherhood also became a central part of her journey after leaving. She shared her experience of raising her children independently while staying focused on her values and responsibilities. According to her, “Taking care of kids alone and not sleeping around to take care of them is a flex for me.” The statement reflects both her resilience and her pride in how she has managed her life since the separation.

She also used the opportunity to speak directly to individuals who may be experiencing abuse in their relationships. She urged them to prioritize their safety and wellbeing, regardless of outside pressure or opinions. She said, “If you are going through domestic violence in your relationship or marriage, LEAVE TO LIVE. Don’t think about what people will say.”

On her current status with her former partner, she made it clear that there has been no contact since the separation. She stated, “I have never set eyes on him in 10 years. Toxic and violent people don’t change.”

Today, she identifies fully with her journey and the strength it has taken to rebuild her life. She concluded with a firm declaration of identity and survival: “I am a survivor.”
