Nigerian music star Davido is set to receive major international recognition as he has been named among honourees for the 2026 Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
The announcement was made on Thursday via the official Instagram page of the organisers, who celebrated the Afrobeats superstar for his contribution to global music and the growth of African sound worldwide.
“We are proud to announce our Summer 2026 honoree: Davido, Honouring Legacy,” the statement read.
According to the organisers, Davido has played a major role in pushing Afrobeats to a global audience, helping the genre gain mainstream acceptance across different continents through his music, performances, and collaborations.
“Davido has helped bring African music to the forefront of the international stage. Known for his infectious hits, dynamic performances, and cross-cultural collaborations, he has built a sound that transcends borders while staying rooted in his heritage.
“Beyond music, his impact extends into philanthropy and entrepreneurship, inspiring a new generation of artists across the globe,” the organisers added.
The 2026 ceremony is scheduled to hold on June 1, near the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, along the historic Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Northside Drive area. The event is expected to bring together major figures in Black music, entertainment, and culture.
American rapper Ludacris is also among the personalities expected to be honoured at the prestigious ceremony, further highlighting the event’s celebration of influential figures in global Black entertainment.
Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, first rose to prominence in 2011 following the release of his breakout single Dami Duro. Since then, he has grown into one of Africa’s biggest music exports, with a career spanning over a decade.
He has delivered several global hits including Fall, If, Feel, and Unavailable, which have contributed significantly to his international appeal and streaming success.
Over the years, Davido has collaborated with several global superstars including Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Lil Baby, and Summer Walker, further strengthening his global presence.
His work has earned him multiple award nominations, including recognition at the Grammy Awards, and he has performed on some of the world’s biggest stages.
Beyond music, Davido is also known for his philanthropic efforts and influence in youth culture, often using his platform to support charitable causes and emerging talents.
The upcoming Walk of Fame honour adds to his growing list of international recognitions, reinforcing his status as one of the leading figures shaping the global rise of Afrobeats.
