Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has opened up about the personal adjustments that followed his growing fame, especially after the success of his recent work Love in Every Word. According to him, while his career continues to expand, the attention that came with it has also brought unexpected pressure into his home life.
He described his partner as someone who has never been involved in the entertainment industry and deliberately chooses to live away from public attention. For him, her independence and private lifestyle are important, and he respects her decision to stay out of the spotlight despite his rising popularity.
“My partner is not a media person. She has her own life and her own dreams that are separate from mine,” he said.
Arukwe also expressed strong views about how he is raising his children, insisting that they should not feel obligated to follow in his footsteps. He stressed that fame or acting should never become an expectation placed on them because of his profession, but rather a choice they make for themselves when they are ready.
“I want my girls to grow up and choose what they want for themselves. They should not feel forced into acting or fame because of my job,” he said.
The actor further explained that the shift in his private life became more noticeable after Love in Every Word gained wide attention. The project elevated his visibility significantly, but it also drew public curiosity into spaces that were previously private. His partner’s social media account, which was once quiet and personal, suddenly became a target of massive online attention, with hundreds of friend requests and unsolicited messages arriving within a short time.
“When ‘Love in Every Word’ came out, everything changed for her. Her private page suddenly received more than five hundred friend requests. People were knocking on that online door, trying to get inside,” he revealed.
He added that some individuals went further by sending intrusive messages referencing romantic scenes from his on-screen roles, attempting to dig into his personal relationships and create gossip around his private life.
Reflecting on his journey, Arukwe admitted that while he has always been focused on his craft, he did not anticipate how deeply fame would extend into his personal environment. His acting career, which gained momentum with projects like Sugar Rush (2019), where he appeared in a widely viewed ensemble cast, and The Ghost and the Tout Too (2021), which further strengthened his visibility in mainstream Nollywood cinema, has gradually built his reputation as a familiar face in both romantic and comedic storytelling. More recent romantic productions, including Love in Every Word, have played a significant role in pushing him further into public recognition, especially within relationship-driven narratives that resonate widely with audiences.
Despite the growing attention, he emphasized that he remains committed to his profession while also taking active steps to protect his family’s privacy.
“I did not plan for this side of success. I just wanted to do my work quietly. But God has His own way of moving things. So now I protect my family as much as I can, while still showing up fully for the craft I love.”
