Dania Scott’s Brother has publicly detailed the harrowing circumstances surrounding the abduction of his older sibling, a recent graduate who was snatched by gunmen in Ekpoma, Edo State. The victim was returning to his apartment on Easter Sunday when masked individuals intercepted him and his companions at their gate. While the others were eventually released, Dania remains missing, leaving his family in a state of absolute despair as the security situation worsens.
According to an interview posted by Punch Newspaper on April 26, 2026, while the family desperately sought a way to pay the ransom, the captors made strange demands for physical items. He said, “the kidnappers insisted on receiving five million Naira in cash, various food supplies, and a functional power bank before they suddenly cut off all communication.” This bizarre request for electronics and provisions preceded a total silence that has lasted weeks.
The emotional and physical health of the family is rapidly deteriorating as they wait for any news regarding the firstborn son. Their mother, who has long battled hypertension, is currently bedridden with a severe fever triggered by the intense shock of the kidnapping. Her children and husband are watching her health decline alongside their hope, as every day without a phone call makes the possibility of a safe return feel more distant.
Academic life has also come to a complete standstill for the younger brother, who is a final year anatomy student at Edo State University. He explained that focusing on project work or lectures is impossible when his brother’s life hangs in the balance, especially since they were once so close. The trauma of the event has paralyzed the entire household, making it difficult for anyone to maintain their normal daily routines.
Despite reporting the case to the police in Auchi and Iruekpen, the family feels that the official response has lacked the necessary urgency to save a life.
