Popular Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong has recounted what he describes as a deeply unusual spiritual experience that strengthened his Christian faith, during a church visit where he says he suddenly began to experience intense bodily vibrations after greeting a pastor.
Speaking in an interview on the Diary of A Naija Girl podcast, Effiong explained that the incident happened shortly before a Sunday service began, when he arrived early at church and exchanged greetings with ministers present.
According to him, he first hugged a female pastor he met at the branch, and immediately noticed that her body was shaking or “vibrating” in a way he did not understand at the time.
He said the experience became even more surprising moments later when he took his seat inside the church auditorium and suddenly began to feel similar vibrations running through his own body without any form of prayer or ritual taking place.
Effiong stated that there was no special deliverance service or prayer session ongoing at that moment, making the experience, in his view, completely unexpected and difficult to explain logically.
He added that the sensation intensified until he eventually fell to the floor near where he was seated, drawing attention from people around him as the service had not yet officially started.
The actor revealed that his wife was seated beside him during the incident and witnessed everything unfold, noting that both of them were confused by what was happening at the time.
Effiong described the moment as one that left a strong impression on him spiritually, saying it later contributed to a deeper reflection on his faith and personal beliefs.
He was quoted as saying, “After I hugged my female pastor before service, my body started vibrating and I fell down,” adding that he initially struggled to understand the experience but later interpreted it as a spiritual encounter.
He further explained that the event was not staged or planned, but occurred naturally as part of his normal church attendance routine, which made it even more striking for him personally.
While sharing the story, Effiong did not suggest a medical explanation for what happened, instead framing it within his spiritual journey and understanding of Christian experiences.
The actor emphasized that he respects differing interpretations of such experiences, acknowledging that others may view the incident differently depending on their beliefs and perspectives.
